Employee Spotlight – Aidan Petersen (Civil Engineer)

Today we meet Aidan Petersen.

Q – Aidan, How long have you worked for Smart Nine?
A – 4 years and 10 months, almost half a decade!

Q – What does your job entail?
A – The job varies depending on the client and the project. The recurring jobs are: site engineering, quality assurance engineering, pre-contract tender support, project commercial assistance (variations, insurance etc.).

Q – What do you like most about your job?
A – As detailed in the above question, what I like most about my job is the varied work. Rarely will I be doing the same job on the same project for more than a few months which keeps the work fresh and interesting.

Q – What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
A – Whilst I might not always be the most experienced person in the room, it doesn’t mean that I can’t have the best solution to a problem.

Q – What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?
A – I could have also seen myself doing Software Engineering (except I didn’t enjoy the 1 elective subject at Uni..).

Q – What do you like to do when you’re not working?
A – Play computer games, watch Formula 1 or read a good fiction book.

Q – Favourite place in the world?
A – Munich, Germany (so far) – cold weather, quality beer, good food.

Q – If you could meet anyone in the world (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
A – George RR Martin, to ask him when he will finish writing the “A Song of Ice and Fire” books.

Q – One thing you can’t live without?
A – My gaming PC

Q – Which tv show or movie are you ashamed to admit you love?
A – Loved watching NCIS and Bones back in the day.

Q – If you could have any superpower what would it be?
A – Teleportation – no more COVID travel restrictions

Q – What is one food you cannot resist?
A – Korean Fried Chicken
